Purpose: Provides journey level maintenance services to district buildings and grounds.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Leads the work of others to ensure that district facilities are clean, safe, secure, and in good repair to provide safe, comfortable work and learning environments for staff and students.
Working alone or as a team leader, arranges physical spaces, equipment, and materials, as needed, to enhance work and learning environments; including public use of facilities.
Leads the work of others to ensure that building systems (i.e., mechanical, electrical, heating) function to specifications to maintain high quality learning and working environments that meet district and legal standards.
Supervises students outside the classroom, as assigned, to support the district/building’s discipline and instructional program.
Exercises independent judgment to carry out maintenance projects in a variety of building and maintenance trade areas, including layout, design, and organization of work crews, efficiently, effectively, and to the journey-level standards.
Provides other related services as assigned.

Ability to use independent judgment and sound decision-making to act in emergency situations.
Ability to understand and implement the school/program’s student discipline policy and to manage student behavior effectively outside a classroom setting.
Ability to understand the building/program’s goals and carry out work assignments in a manner that supports these goals.
Ability to obtain specialized training and/or certification as required.
Ability to travel among district facilities as needed; if driving, the ability to meet district driving standards.
Standard First Aid certification, or the ability to obtain certification within two months of hire, may be required.
